Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a number of questions I am often asked. Although every situation is different, hopefully these will provide you with the answers to help you take the next step forward.
Do I have enough money to work with a financial advisor?
Where should I be financially?
I had a financial advisor but I haven't been to see him in years. Should I get a check-up?
What information will we look at?
What can you offer my small business?
Can my IRA roll over into a Roth IRA?
Why should I supplement the disability insurance I already have through my job?
How will I be charged?
We are not a fee-based planning firm. Your only costs are for the products you choose to purchase (ie: insurance plans, retirement packages, etc.) and that is where I get paid. You are not charged directly for our meetings, so you should feel free to visit or call whenever your life changes.
Do I have enough money to work with a financial advisor?
It's not as much about how much money you have as it is about your desire to understand your financial situation and to devise a strategy. Creating a sound financial plan is about making wise choices, investing in the right areas, and focusing on what your current and future goals. It's not about how much money you have, it's what you do with it.
Where should I be financially?
Should doesn't have a role in creating a plan. Where you are is where we start. Then, we plan where you want to go, mapping out the roads and alternative routes in between. Just think of it like you were planning a road trip!
I had a financial advisor but I haven't been to see him in years. Should I get a check-up?
While the timeline is going to depend on your situation, you should meet with your financial advisor anytime you have a change in circumstance, such as a new job, buying a house, or retirement. We generally encourage a meeting annually or biannually as a minimum.
What information will we look at?
For most people, I help them review all of their financial products and choices in order to help them get a look at the big picture. However, some clients have one particular area that is most important to them, so we only focus on that.
What can you offer my small business?
I can help you get an understanding of the overall financial picture of your company and where you'd like to take it. We can also discuss your employee benefits and retirement programs, disability insurance, succession planning, and more.
Can my IRA roll over into a Roth IRA?
This question really depends on a lot of variables. Currently, the government offers some incentives for rolling over your IRA, but it's totally dependent on your situation.
Why should I supplement the disability insurance I already have through my job?
A lot of company-offered disability plans are limited in their length and scope. Purchasing supplemental disability insurance helps to ensure you and your family continue living your lifestyle, even with a disability.
